"I bought a size large and it is a perfect fit. It is very warm, comfortable and an attractive jacket. I think it is appropriately priced. You can’t go wrong with purchasing this jacket."
The iconic look of the WWII American Tanker jacket for men is as desired today as it was over 75 years ago when issued by the U.S. Army. Originally designed as the jacket of a 3-piece winter combat uniform including pants, and helmet for armored vehicle and tank crewmen gave it its classic name. Although designed for armored crews the jackets would become wildly popular with American G.I.s and airmen alike. Its comfort, functionality, and fashionable look made it popular with soldiers in the field, as well as legendary General Officers such as Patton, Bradley, and Eisenhower. It was also a favorite of many USAAF pilots, especially fighter pilots who found the wool-lined US Army Tanker Jacket was a great cold weather alternative to the heavier B-3 bomber jackets, or their lighter weight A-2 bomber jackets. The Cockpit USA WWII American Tanker Jacket has all the great features that made the original a classic including its 100% Cotton fabric shell, and the Olive Green Melton Wool lining to keep its wearer warm. The iconic US Army Tanker Jacket’s vintage military style is the perfect functional and fashionable jacket, easy to style with just about any look you might choose. "Great jacket. Warm Well made. USA made. Fits great. High speed, low drag."
"Just put this on today. Best 3 season jacket I own. The duck shell and the wool lining far outweigh any man made material for warmth and comfort. I always wanted one so I bought two. . one in khaki and one in olive. Don't waste time thinking it over. Get one. . or two today."
"Owned this jacket for a little over two years and it is the most comfortable jacket I own alongside my old M51. Its amazing when worn from the start of fall all the way into winter here in Ohio, feels breathable and cozy in the mild temperatures and holds up during the coldest days by itself. It's extremely rugged and I wear it for outside work all the time, there has been no damage and still feels as sturdy since the day I've bought it."
"A usual with the fellows at Cockpit, this jacket is up to a high quality standard, with outstanding craftsmanship and will last a lifetime. Always a pleasure to deal with Jackie and her colleagues"
"It was almost 70 degrees here in Syracuse, NY and yet I was still comfortable in my Cockpit Tanker Jacket. Why? Natural fibers. The heavy duck cotton canvas outer shell and the wool lining are far superior to man made materials which simply don't breathe. Wool and cotton breathe and wool is an insulator that in comfortable in many degree variations. Make the investment. By the way it's really good looking as well. Jacky Clyman runs an AWESOME company. BUY THE TANKER JACKET!!!!!! Best, Ed. S."
"Just received the British khaki version today. Perfect fit and warm as toast. I'm actually giving away my Squall Jackets from Lands End. They're good but they cannot come close to the natural fiber of the Tanker. They don't breathe. The tanker jackets do. This means that I can wear the tanker in a greater variety of weather conditions than the Squall jacket. The tanker is also really cool looking. Cockpit USA has outstanding customer service. I'm now a big fan/customer. Invest in this Tanker jacket. It' more expensive than it's nylon counterpart but the difference in wear and comfort is worth every penny. Get one!! They don't stay on the shelves for very long and for good reason!!!"
"Here up in Syracuse NY we got hit again with some old school winter weather. I was very pleasantly surprised at how the tanker handled itself in the cold. The piercing north wind never got through the duck canvas and melton wool of the old school tanker. You cannot best natural fibers!!!! This is a GREAT jacket!!"
"Just received the olive tanker and it well exceeds expectations. The fit is perfect and it is unbelieveably warm. I dare you to find a jacket of man made materials that is warmer, more substantial or more comfortable than the natural wool and heavy duck cotton with which this great jacket is made. It is very good looking and the cut is perfect. If you're looking for a nostalgic jacket that is warm, good looking and practical, then the Cockpit olive tanker jacket is for you. Get one now and don't hesitate. Jackets of this caliber don't stay on the shelves very long!!"
"Not sure if the 1st review went through. This olive tanker jacket is the best investment I've made in a long time. While it is somewhat heavier than one of man made materials, it is greatly more comfortable. The canvas and wool combination- natural fibers-allow the jacket to breathe which means that it is more versatile in varied weather conditions. It is also very comfortable and very good looking. Make the investment!!!! You wont go wrong. I ordered mine last Saturday and had a question about stock quantity. I didn't expect a response til later that week. Within 2 hours the owner of the company contacted me and reassured me that the jacket was in fact in stock. Needless to say I was very impressed. . so much so that I ordered the khaki version a day later!!! This is a great company. Jacky Clyman is a true professional and a delightful young woman. Why would you shop antwhere else for classic clothing??!!"
