The A-2 is symbolic of its once extraordinary owners and a proud American legacy. This jacket is also available in long sizes.

I purchased a WWII Government Issue A-2 jacket recently and am very happy with my purchase. They were very helpful with getting just the right size. The quality of the jacket is top notch. I made this purchase to recreate my father's jacket that he wore in WWII as a navigator on a B -17. This is to remember him and all the young men who servered in WWII, but mainly the 8th Army Air Force. (Posted on 2/4/2016)

I won't waste your time with a lot of babble. The WWII Government Issue A-2 Jacket is exactly what I envisioned. Obvious quality and perfect fit. The term "value received" comes to mind. I would recommend this jacket to anyone looking for an A-2 and who expects the best. (Posted on 11/21/2015)

This is just a beautiful jacket. The horsehide is really something to experience as it's such a rich color and texture. The jacket is a bit stiff at first, and the bottom is cut higher than my 21st century A2, but the fit is right on. Molly in the showroom was very helpful in getting the right size and fit and the overall experience at Cockpit makes me want to come back for another jacket, and another....

  10. THE flight jacket you will not regret Review by Wen

This is my first cockpit flight jacket and sure it won't be my last.
I got this jacket as a gift for myself during thanksgiving last year and the whole site was on sale. My eyes have been on this jacket for a while and I decided it was a good time to grab one. The other jacket I really want back then was the tokyo raid version however cockpit ran out of size at that moment.
Now back to the jacket, horsehide is a rigid material so you can expect the stiffness when you first wear it on. But the quality is there, this is the best A-2 I have ever seen. The leather is top notch and the cut, the stitch is just perfect. I am wearing a size 40 suit and size 40 A-2 is about right for me. The only thing I wish that can be changed is the sleeve, they seem a little bit long and big, but hey this is the original jacket that the pilots wore during the war. If you want a slimmer look you have to go Japanese brand for these bad boys.
In summary, if you want a quality and durable A-2 jacket, this is it. Look no further. Jackets from brands such as eEastman Leather or Buzz Rickson charges a premium just because of the market hype. My cockpit can compete with those any day. (Posted on 2/11/2015)

This was my second jacket purchased from Cockpit USA and I remain a very satisfied customer. As others have stated, the pictures do not do the horsehide justice. It is a very deep, warm chestnut color and the finish is exceptionally smooth. The jacket fits very well and I am proud to show it off! (Posted on 1/26/2015)

I have worked with Jacky she is very with knowledgeable with the fitting of these jackets. I could not have done it without her help. The jacket is first class and can be worn for dress or casual wear. I am just waiting for my Tankers jacket because, I received the wrong size. I definitely rate this company a FIVE star company. 14. I finally got my second skin back! Review by Tomislav

Four years ago, when I was on a business trip, my USAF 21st Century A-2 jacket was stollen and with it a lots of memories from the time I served in the air force. Since it was a huge blow my wife decided to make it up to me and surprised me for my 40th birthday with a brand new WWII Government Issue A-2 Jacket. It was like I got my memories back. It was great to feel that smell and sound of leather again. It reminded me of the days I was wearing it on the job (in the 21st century…not in the II WW-:)).

I always appreciated how the jacket is slim and tight because I never incidentally turned on any of the million switches in the cockpit…and the cockpit can be tight. The pockets are a bit small but if you are an aviator you always travel light…a wallet with a credit card and some cash, keys and a mobile phone…everything else I can do without. It’s is easily folded for a carriage in a transport bag (or between the handles of the bag, if you want it to be close at hand). It doesn't look like it, but It’s very warm. It’s around +5 degrees C outside now and all I wear is a shirt and a light pullover bellow it. It’s enough to keep me warm while I walk downtown. Since it’s leather jacket it works great in windy conditions too.

Anyhow, I’m happy as a child again because I finally got my second skin back (and this time I plan to keep it for a long time!).

At the end, a big THANK YOU to everybody from COCKPIT USA, to Stephane and Laetitia from CAPACHAT.COM and to my wife Iva for putting such a great effort to get the jacket here on time for my 40th birthday celebration (you wouldn't believe what Murphy’s law is applicable to)!!!

  15. Love that Unique Storm flap. Review by David
    Value
    Quality

I bought a size 48 WW2 Government Issue Horsehide jacket. As some reviewers stated, this A2 jacket is loose fitting but I'd like to add that it is also fits a tad short in the trunk - maybe an inch shorter than I would have expected or preferred. I'm sometimes tugging on the elastic waist which will just cover my belt, but the jacket fits comfortably and looks good with arms being perfect length. I am very impressed with the stiff storm flap that automatically flips over the zipper and keeps out weather - truly unique as none of my other 12 leather jackets have done this nearly as well! It's nice having such an classic-looking jacket - just like MacArthur wore, but beware that this authentic jacket has no inside or side entry outside pockets. The top entry outside pockets have nice snap down flaps, but the pockets are not very handy and you'll have to keep an eye on where you last left your gloves, or eye-glasses. The loose fit and elastic wrists and waist trap air making the A2 warmer than I expected for such a lightly lined jacket. The nicely colored American horsehide is elegantly smooth everywhere but in the lower sleeves where it is rather pebbly. I'm a fan of horsehide because of the unique way it gets wrinkles & creases which add incredible character. (Posted on 11/4/2014)

We had a weeks break in New York. We live in the U.K. One of the highlights was trip to Cockpit and I treated myself to the Horsehide A2. I tried on several in the store but loved the look and feel of this jacket. Been home 2 weeks now. Love the jacket! It is softening up nicely and looks great.thanks to the staff in the store who were so helpful. Chris. (Posted on 11/3/2014)

Received my jacket today 21 Oct 14 ten days from the time I placed my order, great service. The jacket is very authentic and very well made. I also have the 21st century A2 but I like this one better. I will wear this jacket with pride and definitely recommend it to all who ask. I plan on buying from Cockpit USA again. 18. To Reiterate Review by Edward

After 2 days of wearing my beautiful new purchase, I have decided that I will never get another bomber jacket that isn't made of horsehide. The photo doesn't do it justice. It is a deep, rich mahogany with natural creases and folds and has a suppleness I have not found in other leathers. My suggestion to you is to spend the extra bucks and get horsehide. You will NOT be sorry. (Posted on 1/22/2014)

I've never had a horsehide jacket before, but I won't go back to the other again. This is absolutely gorgeous . A colleague compared it to heirloom furniture. It has a richness to it that I can't describe. You would actually have to see one to understand. Doug MacArthur had good taste. (Posted on 1/21/2014)
