Prior to December 1941 as a volunteer fighter squadron fighting the Japanese in China, the American Volunteer Group was nicknamed the Flying Tigers. Absorbed into the Army Air Force on July 4th 1942, the 23rd Fighter Group was the official new name for the AVG, but kept their nom de guerre “The Flying Tigers”. It took a while to get but it is exactly what I wanted, I ordered a jacket size 42, it is a little tight but I expect it to loosen up with age.
Great value and excellent works.

I am the proud owner of several jackets from Cockpit USA and again, I was very pleased unboxing this Flying Tigers A-2. The horsehide is gorgeous, the cut is good and you immediately feel good wearing this A-2. What I especially like In addition of the great embroidered leather patches on back and front is the stunning flying tigers lining that you don’t see on this website. I’m 1.78 meter for 72 kg, choose for a size 40 and that’s a good fit. (Posted on 2/28/2017)
Flying Tigers A2 Review by Michael

I recently purchased 23rd Fighter group Flying Tigers A2 jacket. I am extremely impressed with the cut, fit and overall quality of the Jacket.
The service from Cockpit USA was also top notch. From ordering to wearing the Jacket was one week. Not bad as I live in Australia.
I am lucky enough to own a Boeing Stearman which is a 1940 open cockpit Biplane. I always wear my A2 when flying. Its warmth and ruggedness make it an essential part of my flying gear.
To put it simply, if you want originality and superb quality in a A2 jacket, there is only one choice. The Cockpit USA A2.

This jacket is outstanding. The quality is very, very impressive. The leather is gorgeous. The front and rear patches are hand cut and assembled leather of beautiful detail. The sleeve patches are embroidered with silver and gold metal 'bullion' thread. I am thrilled to own it.

Stanley in 'Customer Service' is a pleasure to deal with. I am very picky and he never hesitated to be friendly and helpful in every way and he always answers the phone quickly!!!!!! (Posted on 1/15/2016)

Thank you Cockpit USA for supplying a fantastic A2 jacket in your Flying Tigers 23rd Fighter Group Jacket. It came to Australia in very quick time and the leather and combination of leather and bullion patches were just as they looked on your website and of great quality. I look forward to purchasing another garment from you in the future. (Posted on 8/18/2014)
