The best jacket on the market, hands down! Review by Brett

I recently passed my PPL checkride and wanted to commemorate it with my own pilot jacket. I did hours of research online and found cockpit USA and the Mustang A2. Right away I knew I had to have it. When this jacket came in I was honestly astounded by how it looked and the quality. It even exceeded my expectations. It was a little darker than the pictures, and not quite as worn as the one online, but I quickly corrected that with some low grade sand paper to give it just the look I was going for. Now I can’t take it off. Even in the summer! This will be the jacket I pass to my kids someday. I am a small build man, 5’7” and 120 pounds and the XS fits me like a glove. The attention to detail and historical accuracy truly can’t be beaten. I recently travelled to the Air Force Museum in Dayton and took a picture of Jimmy Stuart’s A2. This jacket is identical!

I also cannot say enough about the customer service of Cockpit USA. They went so far as to go into the warehouse and take pictures of the jacket in different lighting for me so I could verify it was the exact color and style I wanted. When it came in a little darker they contacted me immediately and responded to all of my emails very promptly to offer any fix I would need, including shipping the jacket back! I will be choosing them in the future for several more items I have seen on their website that I want! Impeccable service! (Posted on 8/14/2018)
Was not disappointed Review by Kevin

I’m always a bit weary of online ordering especially when things look so good online only to be let down when the item arrrives. This jacket was not one of those experiences. First I was impressed with the website. Next were the number of positive reviews. The prices are what I would expect for a quality jacket so I took a chance. Glad I did! Love it, best jacket I own right now. I would definitely order from CPT USA again. (Posted on 3/24/2018)
Excellent Quality, Look and Fit Review by Scott

I am 5' 7" and weigh 145 lbs. The size small was spot on. I have owned about 6 other bomber-type or related leather jackets over the years and the Mustang A-2 is by far superior in style, quality, texture and fit. The "weathered/distressed" look is genuine and does not feel painted on like some products and really makes it feel more authentic.

I was really surprised how warm it is too. We are experiencing wicked cold temp in Massachusetts (-3° and -15° with wind chill) and wore it last night to dinner with only a flannel shirt under it and did not feel chilled at all. It definitely shuts out the wind.

Cannot say enough about the high quality of the stitching, zipper, and the weight of the jacket. I am a nut about zippers and hate it when they do not align right--this one is heavy and is very smooth. The leather is smooth and flexes with my every move right out of the box. I really appreciate the deep double breasted inside pockets as well.

Some have noted that the price is a bit steep, but I would argue that you get what you pay for. Made in the USA means a lot to me and there is so much inferior clothing products being imported from other countries that I found the price to be very competitive when you consider the quality of the items. This jacket will last decades--you cannot say that about many other products...

Chamberlain's Leather Milk for A-2 Review by William
Quality
Value
On Jacky's advice, I used Chamberlain’s Leather Milk Liniment No. 1 on my new A-2 Mustang, and it worked beautifully — much better than Lexol (it’s a cream, so easier to control application). It didn’t really darken the leather (even the lighter areas resulting from the special tanning process), as much as it deepened the tones. It has softened the whole feel of the jacket, on the surface and beneath the surface, imparting a comfortable suppleness and a soft satin glow. Excellent. (Posted on 12/29/2017)
Perfect A-2 Review by William

I recently wrote a review regarding my experience, in the NYC showroom, purchasing my first Cockpit jacket. Today I received my A-2 Mustang, and it is perfect — the real thing; it looks like I've been wearing it for years, withstanding the test of time, exactly what I wanted. The styling and the details of construction speak of the high quality of days long past, when the value of American craftsmanship matched the value of the men and women who served in the Army Air Corps; that is, some things cannot be overvalued — and Cockpit USA's commitment, service, and the resulting jackets are among them. Genuine A-2 & Superb Service Review by William

I am a new Cockpit customer, having finally found a genuine A-2 (exactly like the one my father brought home from the Air Corps), after searching the internet seemingly endlessly. I called from Oakland, and made an appointment to visit the showroom on a recent trip to NYC. There I was treated like a friend, with more than one size brought in for me over two days to truly check the fit. The service was superb, backed by the owner's thorough knowledge of her products. I loved the entire experience. Fine jacket, excellent price, good people. (Posted on 12/14/2017)
The Perfect A-2 Aviator... Review by Mark
Quality
Value
Have tried dozens of leather A-2 jackets from a number of manufacturers. The Mustang, in my view, is simply the best A-2 on the market in terms of features, fit, material and build quality. Also, Cockpit USA offers highly-personalized and overall superb service and support.

FIT:
I’m 5’11”, 190 lbs., 44” chest, 34” waist, 34” sleeve length, broad shoulders, athletic build. The Mustang in size XL fits me extremely well. Snug at the waist, sufficient movement in the shoulder area, enough space to wear a sweater under the jacket, but fairly trim fit, not bag like at all. It’s worth noting that the fit is different than the fit of a number of other Cockpit USA A-2 jackets.

MATERIALS:
The Mustang’s fatigued goatskin is lightweight, tough, breathes well, and is nicely broken-in. The silk-like lining appears much tougher than the lining on most A-2 jackets from other manufacturers. The cuffs and waistband are tightly woven and rugged.

FEATURES:
There are two interior pockets that are deep enough and wide enough for a large wallet or iPhone 8 plus. The majority of A-2 jackets seem to only have one interior pocket. Like most original A-2s, there’s a metal hook at the throat area. Side pockets are cloth-lined at the front, leather in the back.

All in all, the Mustang is better looking, better-built and offers better fit (for me at least) than any other A-2. Jacky and Stanley at Cockpit USA are wonderful. I appreciate that this jacket is made in the U.S. and yet isn’t much more expensive than all the A-2’s on the market made in Turkey or elsewhere. I could not be more satisfied with this purchase.

Mustang A2 Limited Edition Review by Mike
Quality

It's pricey. And by the time it landed here in Alberta, REALLY pricey. over $850 CDN pricey. But I'll tell you what. It's worth every pricey penny! My Value rating is based on USD.

It fits like a glove, looks amazing and feels great. The distressed goatskin is so light that I will even be able to wear it in warmer weather unlike my other leather jackets that weighed a ton. And it goes very well with my vintage fedoras.

The interior pockets are huge and able to easily accommodate my fat wallet, smart phone, eyeglass case and fountain pen without making me look fat!

Kudos on this one and I can't wait to get reaction when I actually wear it out and about. (Posted on 2/27/2017)
Outstanding Jacket Review by Michael

Excellent quality, styling and appearance. I had contemplated replacing my brown leather jacket for a while and finally decided to do it and made a major step up. I love the history behind the jacket and have kept the story card and tag inside. Also, I am a larger man and cannot always find stylish products available in my size, so thank you for including us.
