To me, theres just something fundamentally wrong about buying US Military apparel (= American symbol) thats made in China or Vietnam, and particularly in this case if you have any idea of when, where, and why the M-1965 field jacket was introduced. Consequently I became interested in Cockpit USA when trying to replace my old Alpha M65 (made in USA - before they, and seemingly all other American manufacturers, outsourced M65 production). Anyways, much to my surprise I received a sizing recommendation from Jacky (who I believe to be the/an owner of Cockpit USA) almost instantly after requesting. I think its safe to say customer service like that is uncommon in this day and age. Ultimately I just ordered my normal size (XL) and from the first second I picked it up I could tell that the quality of this garment is second to none. I absolutely love the fit and find the jacket to be super smart looking. Personally I also like the fact that it covers my butt, oh yeah, and it doesn’t hurt that my wife says it makes me look totally bad ass... But long story short – while I, too, cringed at the price at first, I'm really glad now that I didn't cheap out. This jacket is the real deal - a classic style and a high quality American made product - and I couldn’t be happier with it. Money well spent in my book. So much that I'm even hoping to get their USN Peacoat sometime soon! (Posted on 10/5/2017)

  2. Awesome M65 Review by James

I'm a bit of an M65 junkie since the 80's. The larger sizes on Mil contract and US made commercial versions 'aint what it used to be.

Received my Cockpit USA M65 this week and knew immediately this was the real deal.

Sizing: Just take not that an XXL Cockpit will fit the same as an XL contract jacket. Just order your normal size. These are not 'slim fit' jackets. My Cockpit XXL fits the closest to my 1969 Sportmaster inc contract jacket. The arms are not too baggy either which I appreciate.

Materials and construction: The nyco shell material is identical to the earlier M65's that I own as is the lining. Good M65's drape nicely on the shoulders and the collar just naturally falls into place. The Cockpit ranks right up there. Construction is excellent.

My only recommendation to cockpit USA is to move the epaulette buttons a bit closer to the collar so they lay flatter and add the elastic waist drawstring.

Summary: Very close if not identical to real deal Viet-Nam era jackets. Keep in mind that the later US made commercial jackets are a bit different to the 'nam era jackets so comparing the cockpit M65 to my later US Alpha's is a bit pointless. Great work on this jacket! (Posted on 12/20/2016)

  3. Happy Customer Great Jacket. Review by Philip

Owning the Alpha Industries and Rothco versions of this jacket both made in China I was looking for an M65 made in the USA.
This jacket does not disappoint. It's extremely well made. The fit is not as loose as the Alpha or Rothco but fits much better. I was not sure would fit better XL or 2XL. The Alpha / Rothco jackets I have are both XL. Taking the opportunity to visit the show room in NYC I got to try both the XL and 2XL. I chose the 2XL. I am extremely pleased with this jacket and like to say thank you to Harlem at Cockpit for his help and assistance with my purchase. If in NYC I would highly recommend a visit to Cockpits show room as it is an Aladdin's cave of well made garments. Thank you Cockpit USA I am a very happy customer. (Posted on 11/13/2016)

  4. Outstanding Review by carlos

For a very long time I wanted to replace an original M-65 Field Jacket that my Grandfather gave me as a gift in 1979.
For the past two years I've been searching for a jacket that would resemble the original M-65 with little to no luck.
While browsing the CockpitUSA website searching for a bomber jacket, I found the
    M-65 field jacket.
The description, details and pictures led me to place an order for the jacket.
Upon arrival and inspection, I was extremely happy with the quality of workmanship, attention to detail, material and true fit of the jacket.
Thank you CockpitUSA. You have a very happy customer.

  7. This is something that I can really use for a long time. Excellent quality. Review by RENE

Exactly what I am looking for in a jacket, like my old M65 (Posted on 2/25/2016)

  8. Great quality... however Review by Jon

This M65 is exceptional in quality. Really made well and with great materials. Being made in the US one would expect this especially with the Cockpit price point. HOWEVER there are "issues" with the accuracy of this reproduction that I wish would have been addressed. Compared side by side with my vintage Alpha Industries there are three glaring inaccuracies with the Cockpit. First the jackets snaps are positioned awkwardly near the edge of the coat. So close to the zipper that one cannot easily button up the coat over the zipper pull unless you position it just right. That is not the case on the Alpha, the snap buttons are further away and thus more usable. Second, the Cockpit collar is ever so slightly shorter than the Alpha and one can notice this quickly by comparing the edges of both collars. And lastly, the Cockpit did not have a decent zipper pull like almost all M65 copies do... all that was tied to my Cockpit zipper was a silly little strip of leather which literally untied itself and fell off the zipper when I first unboxed it. You would think that for a $370 US made jacket they would put a decent zipper pull like the original M65's. All in all, I like the jacket but I feel Cockpit should have nailed it better, makes me wonder if they ever compared a vintage original to theirs, like I have. I'd gladly send my vintage Alpha to them... If they agreed to send me the first prototype ;-) (Posted on 1/25/2016)

  9. A great find Review by Quality fan

Received my M65 today and am very pleased with the quality of the garment. The fabric is unlike anything I have seen before on less expensive M65 models. Well worth the price in my opinion. I first ordered a large but it was way too big, inside of the jacket it said 44-46, which is typically an extra large. Re-ordered in a medium and the jacket fits perfectly, inside reads 42-44. Am 180lbs and 5'10". If you are looking for a high quality USA made mil spec M65, then look no further. Also, it's great that the jacket comes with the liner, most m65's do not. 10. a little expensive, but size is good Review by Gryphus

the M65 filed jacket is more true to size than alpha's, liners is warm
but it seems that it is not 100% water proof (Posted on 1/10/2016)

  11. Awesome Coat. Review by Scott

I cannot say enough about the clothing and the people at Cockpit USA. I started looking for an American Made coat, which unfortunately is tough to find nowadays. I had it narrowed down to 2-USA made manufactures. One Sunday morning I emailed Cockpit USA in regards to sizing and within 20 minutes, I had a response. A response on a Sunday morning from a real person. I expected some sort of automated email. My decision was made. It was a simple email, but an American Made coat and great customer service. No brainer. I ordered the M-65 Field Jacket. I have been wearing the coat for almost a month now and it’s a beautiful well made coat. The coat is heavy, even without the liner.
I liked the coat so much a few weeks later I ordered two graphic t-shirts to give as gifts. The T-shirts are so nice, I regret not getting myself one. They look well made and are made from a super soft cotton.

  12. This jacket is well made. The customer service was excellent and the order was dispatched promptly. Highly recommended. Made in the USA, excellent quality Review by Andrew

The Jacket & liner are well made and excellent quality. The sizes are slightly large but excellent for layering in the winter. Excellent customer service & order was promptly dispatched. (Posted on 10/3/2015)

  13. Nice but not Issue Review by Gary

This jacket is very well made, but it is not cut the same as my USAF issued M-65 from 1977 (Cherokee Industries). This XL M-65 seems to me to be cut for fashion (i.e., trim) not for function. I ordered the liner with mine and while it is USGI it's notanM-65 liner - the bottom button does not line up right. That said, you can't wear the liner anyway and have any room - it's way too tight. I have my old issue M-65, a repro M-43, and several other (Alpha & Tru-Spec) M-65's that all fit better than this jacket. If you want a fashion jacket, this is it. If you want your old M-65 back, look elsewhere. (Posted on 2/8/2015)

  14. Excellent Review by William

This was the only m-65 jacket I would think of buying. It is an exact copy of my Army m-65 hanging in my closet.. (Posted on 12/4/2014)
