The US Navy issued all U.S Navy personnel the N-1 Deck Jacket in 1944. It has become one of the most famed and utilized U.S Armed Forces jackets in the 1940s. The Deck Jacket was sturdy, warm, and a versatile jacket for crew-members working on aircraft carriers and USN warships. The first version of the N1 Deck Jacket had wool blend Alpaca fiber lining; later this lining was replaced by wool. Cockpit USA’s version has a polyester lining which is lighter and more pleasant to wear while giving the appearance of the original alpaca lining. The Bedford Cord Deck Jacket pays respect to the hardworking men of the US Navy by replicating the wind flap protector over the zipper front enclosure and a USN stencil behind its collar, constructed of a unique rugged Bedford Cord shell. For added warmth as well as hidden storm cuffs set in its sleeves, which also keeps the knit from snagging during everyday use. Proudly made in the USA, the N1 Bedford Cord Navy Jacket showcases superior quality in its craftsmanship.

  1. Great Jacket, pay attention to sizing Review by Joel

So a few things about this Jacket and a few about Cockpit USA as a company.

First the Jacket. This my second jacket from Cockpit USA. I also have a 10+ year old Mil Spec G1 flight jacket which I love. it has aged beautifully and I wear it all the time. Ive wanted an N1 Deck coat for a while and was happy to discover that Cockpit offers one. The jacket is light, very comfortable and shockingly warm. with a sweater under it I think its more than warm enough for the coldest days in NY. has great build quality, great range of motion and looks very true to the classic navy foul weather deck coat. I would watch the fit, for me coming from the Milspec G1 (fits like a glove in size 42)
I had to size down from the Large to a medium.

I originally ordered a large as large coincided with 42 on the charts, but alas I was swimming in the coat. I returned it.

Now a note about the company, about 3 days after I sent back the coat I got a call from Jackie who is one of the founders, she was lovely and helpful, we discussed the coat's fit and sizing and she ultimately sent me a size Medium (overnight at no shipping cost to me). Needless to say the medium fits perfectly. I was extremely impressed with the whole experience. if you're on the fence 1) size down and 2) go for it (Posted on 3/27/2019)

Great jacket and the staff at cockpit USA where wonderful. N-1 deck jacket is warm, comfortable and great craftsmanship. The staff was very helpful with my sizing and unfortunately it was on back order but received it the next day in time for Christmas. Well made modern version of the n-1 deck jacket (Posted on 12/28/2018)

  3. Jacket true to the legacy Review by Joshua

It's amazing how Cockpit takes a historical style, replicates it in detail, and only tweaks it if there is a real benefit. My dad had this jacket style in the Navy during WWII (carrier), I had the Navy "modernized" version of it while serving aboard a Guide Missile Cruiser in the 80's (renamed foul weather jacket), and I can see elements from both jackets in this one...impressive. Thank you. (Posted on 12/11/2018)

This is not a exact copy of N-1 jacket, but, I actually glad it is not. It has a modern fit and trim to it. The build quality is great. In a 25 degrees weather (New England area), all I need is a long sleeve t shirt underneath it, and I feel warm already. (Posted on 2/18/2018)

Craftsmanship is spot on, fit is excellent. Very warm, comfortable coat. I love the fact it is made in the USA! A little pricey, but worth it for all things considered. I really can’t think of anything negative to say about this jacket. Thanks Cockpit USA! (Posted on 12/5/2017)
