History.com: From Farm To Flyer

A pilot with a penchant for film, Lietenant Charles Nehring of the Air Corps in WWII shot hours of footage while on duty as a pilot in the Pacific. With the close of the war, the reels were developed then stored away for over 60 years. Later rediscovered by his daughter Kay Nehring, the reels revealed moving images of her father’s brave and lively young pilot comrades as well as several iconic missions. Similar to Cockpit USA in our missions of preservation and presentation of important articles of history, Film Corps is an outreach program dedicated to historic footage captured during battle and thanks to them, the cinematic efforts of that young C47 pilot can be seen and enjoyed by all.
