See America: Anacostia Community Museum

Driven by a dedication to the notion of 'community', the Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum is a hub of knowledge curated and presented in ways to challenge ideas and stigmas along with creating a deeper understanding of social and cultural issues at play in today's world. Since being established in 1967, the Anacostia Community Museum has conducted research and tours, put on lectures, performances and demonstrations in order to provide multifaceted means of learning in its mission to broaden comprehension of all and everything 'community'. From celebrating the 100th anniversary of Juneteenth, the anniversary of the freedom of African Americans from the shackles of slavery to shedding light on the meaning of 'Kwanzaa', ACM strive to educate, enhance and build appreciation of the presence and history of community.
